Abstract:
To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing an alicyclic polycarboxylic acid.
This method for producing the alicyclic polycarboxylic acid by hydrogenating the aromatic ring of an aromatic polycarboxylic acid in the presence of a precious metal catalyst and a polar solvent is provided by using the precious metal catalyst with a carrier of alumina, silica or silica-alumina and setting 0.05-0.45 wt.% using amount of the precious metal as the precious metal based on the amount of the aromatic polycarboxylic acid.
