Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an alicyclic tetracarboxylic acid such as bicyclo[3.3.0]octane-2-exo-4-exo-6-endo-8-endo-tetracarboxylic acid having high productivity and high purity.SOLUTION: This invention provides a method of producing an alicyclic tetracarboxylic acid compound represented by the following formula [B], the method comprising: adding a solution in which a compound represented by the following formula [A] is dissolved in (A): one or two solvent selected from acetone and pyridine derivative, to a potassium permanganate aqueous solution with pH being adjusted to 8.5-10.5; and reacting the obtained material in the presence of (B): one or a plurality of additive selected from pyridine derivative and hydrocarbon derivative, under the condition of pH of 8.5-10.5.
