Abstract:

To provide a method for producing alkali cellulose in which distribution of alkali in the alkali cellulose is uniform, and to provide a method for producing cellulose ether uniformly substituted in the etherification process by uniformizing the distribution of alkali in the alkali cellulose, so that the obtained cellulose ether is free from water-insoluble suspended matter due to insufficient substitution.

This method for producing alkali cellulose comprises feeding pulp powder and an aqueous alkali solution simultaneously to a high speed dispersing apparatus to continuously bring the pulp powder into contact with the aqueous alkali solution to produce the alkali cellulose. Also the method for producing the cellulose ether comprises reacting the obtained alkali cellulose with an etherifying agent.
