To provide a method for producing an alkylaryl carbonate by which the alkylaryl carbonate is produced by an ester-interchange reaction of a dialkyl carbonate with phenols so as to be advantageous in both sides of a reaction rate and an energy.

A gas containing the dialkyl carbonate and a by-produced alkyl alcohol is extracted from an ester-interchange reactor, and the heat is recovered from the gas by a heat exchanger. The gas after recovering of the heat is fed to a middle section of a distillation column having a reboiler at the bottom part to distill the gas so that the alkyl alcohol is distilled off from the top and the dialkyl carbonate is flowed out from the bottom. The flowed out dialkyl carbonate is returned to the reactor.
