Abstract:
To provide a catalyst for promoting an addition reaction of water in high efficiency under a mild condition without producing by-products and a method for producing an amide compound by using the catalyst.
The catalyst is obtained by combining fine particles of palladium, platinum or ruthenium, each of which has 1.0-5.0 nm particle diameter, with an oxygen-containing copper compound. A step of adding water to a nitrile compound is carried out at 80C when the catalyst containing palladium or ruthenium is used or at 100C when the catalyst containing platinum is used.
