Abstract:
To provide a method for producing an aqueous copper sulfate solution containing little unreacted (free) sulfuric acid by efficiently bringing metal copper lumps into contact with sulfuric acid and oxygen.
The method for producing an aqueous copper sulfate solution includes: packing metal copper lumps into a metal dissolution tower; supplying heated sulfuric acid from an upper part of the metal dissolution tower; and supplying an oxidizing agent from an upper or lower part of the metal dissolution tower. The oxidizing agent is at least one selected from among air, oxygen, oxygen peroxide and ozone. For example, the oxidizing agent is air and the air is supplied from a lower part of the metal dissolution tower.
