Abstract:
To provide a catalyst that can economically and efficiently produce an aromatic carbonate by reaction between an aromatic hydroxy compound, carbon monoxide and molecular oxygen with high catalytic activity, high selectivity and prolonged catalyst life and provide an reaction process for producing an aromatic carbonate by using the catalyst.
An aromatic hydroxy compound, carbon monoxide and molecular oxygen are allowed to react between them in the presence of (a) palladium or a palladium salt, (b) a transition metal element and heteropolyacid complex and (c) a quaternary ammonium salt or a quaternary phosphonium salt.
