Abstract:

To produce an aromatic diisocyanate by reacting a corresponding primary aromatic diamine with phosgene in a vapor phase.

Phosgene is reacted with the primary aromatic diamine within a mean residence time of from 0.05 to 15 seconds. The aromatic diamine used contains 0.05 mol% overall of aliphatic amine containing no keto groups per mole of primary amino groups.
