To provide a method for producing an aromatic polyamide ultrafine fiber by which the high-quality ultrafine fiber of an aromatic polyamide can be obtained stably by using a highly safe spinning solution by an electrospinning method, and to provide the high-quality aromatic polyamide ultrafine fiber having little defects.
The method for producing the ultrafine fiber of an aromatic polyamide includes dissolving the aromatic polyamide in a β-alkoxypropionamide-based solvent represented by chemical formula (1) (wherein, R1 is 1-6C alkyl; R2 and R3 are each hydrogen or monovalent hydrocarbon which may have a 1-6C ether bond and which may be linear or branched) to provide an aromatic polyamide spinning solution, and forming the spinning solution into the ultrafine fiber having a fiber diameter of 10-1,000 nm by the electrospinning method. The aromatic polyamide ultrafine fiber is produced by the method.
