To obtain an aromatic polycarbonate that has excellent mechanical properties and transparency that the polycarbonate originally retains and which gives a blow molded article having uniform wall thickness and good appearance, e.g., surface gloss, and provide a method for producing the blow molded article using the same.

The aromatic polycarbonate for blow molding has a viscosity-average molecular weight of 20,000-30,000 and the draw down properties (DD) and the die swell (DSW) of the polycarbonate satisfy the following conditions (1) and (2): 0.250≤DD≤0.450 (1) and 1.90>DSW>-2.67×DD+2.38 (2).
