Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate by a melt polymerization method using an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diaryl carbonate as raw materials, where variations in residence time of a reaction mixture, a prepolymer, and a polymer in all polymerization vessels are suppressed, pressure control and discharge amount control of the polymerization vessels are easy, and the dispersion of molecular weights is small.SOLUTION: The method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate comprises: using a facility having at least one agitation vessel-type polymerization vessel and at least one main polymerization vessel arranged in series; and producing a prepolymer while fixedly controlling a liquid level of a reaction mixture in the agitation vessel-type polymerization vessel by adjusting a supply amount of the reaction mixture or the prepolymer supplied to the agitation vessel-type polymerization vessel.
