Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a pulp and a liquor for cooking the pulp using bast fibers as a raw material according to a simple process.
This method for producing the pulp and the cooking liquor is carried out as follows. A small amount of a cooking aid is added to an aqueous solution of a carbonate, an oxalate and a hydroxide of an alkali metal and hydrogen peroxide to provide the liquor which is used to treat the bast fibers and afford the pulp. A pulp waste liquor is concentrated and burned to recover the carbonate of the alkali metal from the resultant ash and the cooking liquor is recycled.
