To provide a method for producing biomass charcoal that enables efficient improvement in the yield of biomass charcoal when biomass charcoal is produced by carbonizing biomass with use of a fluidized bed carbonization furnace and to provide an apparatus for producing biomass charcoal used in the method.
The method for producing biomass charcoal 2 is a method for producing biomass charcoal by carbonizing biomass 1 with use of a fluidized bed carbonization furnace 10. In the method, biomass charcoal is carried by air stream using exhaust gas 3 discharged from the carbonization furnace 10 and containing tar produced during the carbonization and is recovered in a filling tank 21 for a carbonization product to form a biomass charcoal-filled layer 29 in the filling tank 21 for the carbonization product. Tar is brought into contact with biomass charcoal by allowing the exhaust gas 3 to pass from the upper part of the biomass charcoal-filled layer 29 to the lower part thereof to deposit at least a part of tar on the biomass charcoal.
