Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a biomass fuel that suppresses self-heating and has improved safety during storage, preservation and transportation, a biomass fuel and a biomass carbonization system for producing and storing the biomass fuel.

The biomass fuel is produced by a carbonization step for heating a biomass such as sewage sludge in a low oxygen concentration atmosphere and gasifying ≥92% of the volatile matter content contained in the biomass to form a carbonized material and a cooling step for cooling the carbonized material to a prescribed temperature without humidification. The produced biomass fuel has a fuel ratio of ≥2 and is preserved under condition of an oxygen concentration of ≤5% without humidification after carbonization.
