Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a bischloroformate compound, improving productivity, a polycarbonate oligomer having a small number of monomers, and a solution containing the bischloroformate compound.

The bischloroformate is represented by formula 1: ClCO-(-O-Ar-O-CO-)n-Cl and has an average number of monomers (n) of ≤1.99. The bischloroformate is produced by mixing a bivalent phenolic compound represented by formula 2: HO-Ar-OH, a phosgene compound and an aliphatic tertiary amine using a hydrophobic organic solvent. In formulas 1 and 2, Ar is bivalent aromatic group.
