Abstract:
To provide a method for producing boehmite particles and applications of the particles to a particle filter for an automobile or an emission gas cleaning catalyst.
A substantially aqueous solution of an aluminum compound in the form of salt is prepared in a first process, and the pH of the solution is adjusted to 3.0-6.5 by the addition of an acid and/or a base in a second process. Further, the formed boehmite particles are filtered and separated in a third process, and the produced boehmite particles are heat treated in a fourth process. The particle filter for the automobile or the emission gas cleaning catalyst is produced by coating a ceramic or metal support with the boehmite particles and heat treating the coated support.
