Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for efficiently producing a bromoalkyladamantane in which the bridge head position is brominated without using a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent causing a high load on the human body and environments as a solvent by reducing generation of bromo isomers causing generation of impurities in synthesizing a desired alkyladamantane derivative in the production of a bromoalkyladamantane useful as a raw material for a functional material or an electronic material.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a bromoalkyladamantane by reacting an alkyladamantane having a melting point of 50°C or less and bromine in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst under solvent-free conditions, wherein the reaction is carried out so that the supply amount (a mol) of the alkyladamantane and the supply amount (b mol) of bromine to a reactor satisfy the following conditions: 1≤b/a<2.SELECTED DRAWING: None
