Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cellulose acetate having excellent transparency.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing cellulose acetate flake, comprising the steps of: (a) generating a dope of cellulose acetate by reacting cellulose with acetic anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst and an acetic acid solvent; (b) adjusting the acetylation degree to 52% to 59% by hydrolyzing the cellulose acetate generated; (c) precipitating the adjusted cellulose acetate in the presence of water; (d) dispersing the cellulose acetate obtained by precipitation in a mixed solvent comprising a solvent having a solubility parameter δ of 8 to 13 and a solvent having a solubility parameter δ of 14 or more to obtain a slurry; and (e) separating cellulose acetate from the slurry to produce flake, where the mixed solvent contains 30 wt.% to 70 wt.% of the solvent with a solubility parameter δ of 8 to 13.SELECTED DRAWING: None
