Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ceramics, capable of creating an optimum atmosphere in a furnace by controlling temperature in the furnace along with oxygen concentration therein, thereby obtaining ceramics having good properties and a high quality, and to provide a firing furnace.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for producing ceramics, in which the ceramics are produced in a firing furnace having: a furnace for firing a compact formed by compacting raw ceramic material powder; a gas burner for heating the inside of the furnace; a gas duct for communicating the inside of the furnace with outside air; and a damper for adjusting a furnace pressure. The method includes the steps of: adjusting the temperature inside the furnace by adjusting the pressure of fuel gas to be supplied to the gas burner; and adjusting the oxygen concentration in the furnace by opening and closing the dumper for adjusting the furnace pressure. The step for adjusting the oxygen concentration is conducted through PLC control. The oxygen concentration can be measured by using a zirconia-type oxygen sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
