Abstract:

To carry out a reaction for producing a cinnamoyl derivative from an acryloyl group-containing aldehyde derivative under a condition of a reaction proceeding in a high yield with a slight side reaction.

In this method for producing a cinnamoyl derivative represented by formula 2, Ar-CH=CH-COOH from an aldehyde derivative represented by formula 1, Ar-CHO (Ar is a substituted or nonsubstituted aromatic compound), the aldehyde derivative is reacted with malonic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst.
