To provide a method for producing composite particles that efficiently and easily produces composite particles comprising base particles and child particles covering the base particles, and to provide the composite particles produced by the method for producing composite particles.
The method for producing composite particles comprising the base particles and the child particles covering the base particles includes the steps of: preparing the hydrophobic child particles having a hydrophobic surface by introducing a hydrophobic functional group onto a surface of metal fine particles or metal oxide fine particles via a chemical reaction; preparing a polymerizable monomer mixture by mixing the hydrophobic child particles with a polymerizable monomer; preparing a dispersion of a droplet of the polymerizable monomer mixture by dispersing the polymerizable monomer mixture in a hydrophilic medium; localizing the hydrophobic child particles on the surface in the droplet of the polymerizable monomer mixture; and obtaining the composite particles by polymerizing the droplet of the polymerizable monomer mixture having the hydrophobic child particles localized on the surface.
