To provide a method for producing conjugated diene such as butadiene through catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of monoolefin such as n-butene, the method allowing the conjugated diene to be efficiently absorbed in organic solvent when produced gas obtained after the catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation is absorbed in the organic solvent, and the method therefore being industrially advantageous for production of butadiene.
The method for producing conjugated diene includes: supplying gaseous starting material containing a monoolefin having 4 or more carbon atoms and a molecular oxygen-containing gas to a reactor; carrying out oxidative dehydrogenation in the presence of a catalyst to obtain produced gas containing the corresponding conjugated diene thus obtained; then bringing the produced gas into contact with the organic solvent to obtain solution containing the conjugated diene, wherein the organic solvent contains a cycloolefin compound.
