To recover a conjugated diene in high yield by efficiently removing aldehydes which are by-produced in the reaction using an industrially advantageous method from a product gas comprising the conjugated diene by carrying out the oxidative dehydrogenation in the presence of a catalyst using a raw material gas comprising a 4C or higher monoolefin together with a gas comprising molecular oxygen.
There is provided a method of producing a conjugated diene, wherein solution B containing the conjugated diene is obtained by absorbing a product gas containing the conjugated diene into an organic solvent A, the solution B containing the conjugated diene is separated into the organic solvent A and the conjugated diene D containing aldehyde by performing distillation, the conjugated diene D containing aldehyde is contacted with a solvent C of which infinite dilution activity coefficientγ∞of aldehyde at 25°C is 6.0 or less to remove the aldehyde in the conjugated diene D by solvent absorption.
