Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an optical material of a large size for a thick lens such as a convex lens, a resin block for optical material supplied for cutting work, and the like, the optical material being formed of an episulfide-based resin obtained by polymerizing and curing a composition for a resin containing a compound having two episulfide groups in a molecule, a compound having one or more thiol groups in a molecule, and a polymerization catalyst.

Provided is a method for producing a cured material of an episulfide-based resin comprising sequential steps of: mixing a compound having two episulfide groups in a molecule, a compound having one or more thiol groups in a molecule, and a polymerization catalyst to obtain a composition for polymerization; injecting the composition for polymerization in a mold; and polymerizing the composition for polymerization in a water bath or by water shower of 10 to 95°C.
