Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a cyclic amide compound in high efficiency without generating any harmful by-products, and a method for producing a polyamide by ring-opening polymerization of the cyclic amide compound.

The method for producing the cyclic amide compound includes reaction of a compound represented by general formula (1) and a compound represented by general formula (2) in the presence of a metal catalyst, wherein R¹ and R² each represents a 1-10C alkyl group or phenyl group, and R³ represents 1-24C alkene.
