To provide a method for producing cyclic trithiocarbonate in a high yield even if performing the reaction under relatively mild conditions, and allowing application to various reactants.
(1) In the method for producing cyclic trithiocarbonate, episulfide (thiirane) and carbon disulfide are reacted in the presence of a silica catalyst modified with a secondary or tertiary amine group. (2) The method for producing cyclic trithiocarbonate includes: a first process of reacting epoxide (oxirane) with at least one selected from thiourea and ammonium thiocyanate to obtain episulfide (thiirane); and a second process of reacting the episulfide (thiirane) with the carbon disulfide in the presence of the silica catalyst modified with the secondary or tertiary amine group. The first process and the second process are carried out continuously. (3) The catalyst used when the cyclic trithiocarbonate is produced by reacting the episulfide (thiirane) with the carbon disulfide includes silica modified with the secondary or tertiary amine group.
