Abstract:
To provide a method for producing cyclopentanol, capable of producing the cyclopentanol in a high yield with high selectivity, by hydrating cyclopentene in the presence of a catalyst for hydration reaction.
This method for producing the cyclopentanol comprises hydrating the cyclopentene in the presence of the catalyst which is a water-insoluble binary compound comprising a tungsten compound and a zirconium compound under such a condition that the cyclopentene is not gasified.
