Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a useful dicyanomethylene derivative by using an inexpensive oxidant.
The method for producing the dicyanomethylene derivative comprises a step of reacting an aromatic compound represented by formula (1) with malononitrile under a basic condition, and a step of forming the dicyanomethylene derivative represented by formula (2) by adding the oxidant to a liquid obtained by reacting the aromatic compound with the malononitrile.
