Abstract:
To provide a process capable of obtaining a diol compound having a cyclohexane skeleton with a high ratio of total trans compounds/cis-containing compounds under a mild reaction condition.SOLUTION: A method of producing a diol compound having a cyclohexane skeleton includes: reacting at least one compound selected from a dione compound having a cyclohexane skeleton, a ketol compound having a cyclohexane skeleton or a dihydroxy aryl compound, and a diol compound having a cyclohexane skeleton as (a) raw material(s) in the presence of a metal catalyst without adding a solvent in a solid phase state under hydrogen environment, where the ratio of total trans compounds/cis-containing compounds is higher than 1.5 and 10,000 or lower.SELECTED DRAWING: None
