Abstract:
To provide a simple and economic process for preparation of diphenylmethane based di- and/or polyamine in which the formation of undesirable isomers, homologues or by-products is prevented or suppressed.
The invention relates to the process for preparation of the diphenylmethane based di- and/or polyamines comprising (a) mixing a first portion of aniline with an acid catalyst to form a first mixture, (b) mixing a second portion of aniline with formaldehyde to form a second mixture, and (c) mixing the mixtures prepared in each of step (a) and (b) to form a third mixture and (d) reacting the mixture of the step (c).
