To provide a method for producing a display substrate which can avoid a problem caused by the bleeding of a printing paste or a defect of a plate making.
A printing process SB3 applies a useless thick film silver paste (a useless pattern) on a masking in a print-prohibition area without a direct application on a film forming surface even if a defect of a plate making for forming a row direction wiring is present or the thick film silver paste spreads on the film forming surface by applying the thick film silver paste to the film forming surface in a state that the print-prohibition area is covered with the masking, and a burning process SB4 removes the useless thick film silver paste together with the masking from am upside of the film forming surface. Accordingly, the thick film silver of the useless pattern is prevented from depositing and furthermore fixing to the print-prohibition area. Meanwhile, in a outside of the print-prohibition area, even of an excess portion is caused by the bleeding to the outside of the printing pattern, no problem in function of the display substrate occurs.
