To provide a method for producing a disubstituted β-ketoesters, by which the disubstituted β-ketoesters can simply and efficiently be synthesized by a reaction in an aqueous system in which the disubstituted β-ketoesters can easily be isolated from by-products.
This method for producing the disubstituted β-ketoesters represented by formula (III) (R1 is an alkyl, a perhalogenoalkyl, an aryl, a heteroaryl, allyl, an aralkyl or OR2; R2, R3 and R5 are each independently a protecting group perfectly not dissociated or decomposed under the reaction conditions; R4 is H or a lower alkyl) comprises reacting a β-ketoester or β-diester represented by formula (I) with a (α-lower alkyl) acrylate represented by formula (II) in a 1 to 10M alkali aqueous solution.
