Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ETHANOL FROM CELLULOSIC BIOMASS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2012170395
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently producing ethanol from a saccharified solution derived from cellulosic biomass.

More efficient alcohol fermentation is achieved by applying tolerance to fermentation substance inhibition by using a Pichia stipitis mutant with enhanced activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, ketolase and pyruvic acid decarboxylase which are enzymes to metabolize glucose-6-phosphate, fructose-1,6-bisphosphate and pyruvic acid which are intermediate metabolites in producing ethanol from xylose with Pichia stipitis.
