Abstract:
To provide a method that can produce a high-purity ethylene glycol by permanently removing impurities in a convenient method during an ethylene glycol production process.SOLUTION: A method for producing an ethylene glycol includes a hydrolysis step for reacting ethylene oxide with water to obtain an aqueous solution containing an ethylene glycol, and a step for dehydrating and purifying the ethylene glycol from the aqueous solution containing the ethylene glycol. In the step for dehydrating and purifying, the pH of the ethylene glycol is 5.0 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
