To provide a catalyst having excellent high yield, high selectivity, coking deterioration resistance and regeneration deterioration resistance in order to produce ethylene and propylene by catalytic conversion from a hydrocarbon raw material.
The hydrocarbon raw material containing ≥20 mol% of at least one 4-12C olefin is brought into contact with a zeolite-containing molded product catalyst satisfying the following requirements (1) to (6) in a reactor to carry out a catalytic conversion reaction of the olefin to produce ethylene and propylene: (1) the zeolite is an intermediate-pore diameter zeolite having a 5-6.5 Å pore diameter; (2) the zeolite is substantially free from protons; (3) the zeolite contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of metals belonging to the group IB of the periodic table; (4) the zeolite-containing molded product catalyst uses silica as a binder; (5) the crushing strength of the zeolite-containing molded product catalyst is ≥2.5 N/mm; and (6) the sodium content in an H exchange type of the zeolite-containing molded product catalyst is ≤500 ppm.
