To provide a toothbrush provided with a branched bristle part at the tip of a bristle, which hardly stains, which is good in draining off water, and which is excellent in cleaning property at a narrow place, while the branched bristle part is easily formed.
A monofilament 5, which is produced by spinning a synthetic resin obtained by adding and mixing a fluororesin to a thermoplastic resin as base material in a form with a plurality of gaps passing through inside in a longitudinal direction, is cut to a proper length to make the bristles 4 of the toothbrush. The bristles 4 are implanted to a block head 3 at the tip of a handle 2, and tips on the free-end side of the implanted bristles 4 are respectively divided into a plurality of pieces to form the toothbrush 1 with the branched bristle part 9. For the base material of the monofilament 5, the thermoplastic resin having a lower melting point than that of the particles of the fluororesin added and mixed is used, so that in the bristles 4, the particles 7 of the fluororesin are intermixed in the base material 6 in the state of the particles.
