To provide a method for producing a flaky nanocarbon composite having high crystallinity, a large surface area and high flatness.
The method for producing the flaky nanocarbon composite includes a step of bearing a catalyst comprising palladium or a compound thereof on a substrate surface to form a base body 3, and a step of heating in octane 15 in such a way that the temperature of the base body 3 is in a range of 880-1,200C. Since the resulting flaky nanocarbon composite 1 has submicroscopic protrusions, while having a flatter surface than a nanotube, and also has a large surface area comparable to that of activated carbon, it can be used as a structural material and an electrode material in an electric double layer capacitor, a fuel cell or a common secondary battery.
