PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method of producing a fluoromethyl group-containing compound using easily available and inexpensive compounds.SOLUTION: A method of producing a compound represented by general formula (3) comprises reacting, a compound represented by general formula (1), a compound represented by general formula (2) defined by R-CN, an electrophilic fluoromethylating agent and water in the presence of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon under light irradiation.SELECTED DRAWING: None
