To provide a method of producing a furfural inexpensively and efficiently from a biomass resource.

The method of producing the furfural by using a biomass containing pentosan as a feedstock includes: a first step of hydrolyzing the biomass feedstock to obtain a mixture containing pentose; and a second step of making dehydration reaction of the mixture containing the pentose to produce the furfural.
