To provide a method for producing a high-performance functional nonwoven fabric having graft-polymerized various materials, and suitably used for application for filters for liquid filtration, air filters, or the like.
The method and the like for producing a functional nonwoven fabric are provided. The method includes (I) a first step, (II) a second step, and (III) a third step, wherein three steps are independent and non-continuous. (I) The first step applying gamma ray of 30 kGy or less to a nonwoven fabric including a continuous fiber having polyamide or a polyolefin as a raw material and having an average fiber diameter of 0.2 to 10 m, and having a fiber filling ratio of 5-45% under nitrogen atmosphere and in a tightly closed state insulated from air at sub-zero temperature. (II) The second step of soaking the nonwoven fabric in a liquid tank containing an emulsified vinyl group-containing reactive monomer under atmosphere, a nitrogen atmosphere, or reduced pressure, and graft-polymerizing the monomer in a liquid phase. (III) The third step of introducing functional groups having functionality to the grafted vinyl group-containing monomer chain.
