To provide a method for producing a granular formed product of improved mechanical strength for immobilizing an enzyme or microbial cells.
This method for producing the granular formed product comprises the following process: a water-based liquid composition including (A) an unsaturated group-containing urethane resin obtained by reaction of (a) a compound containing in one molecule one hydroxy group and one epoxy group with (b) a compound containing in one molecule one carboxy group and one ethylenically unsaturated group to form (c) an unsaturated group- containing diol which is then reacted with (d) a polyisocyanate compound, (B) a polymerization initiator and (C) a water-soluble high-molecular polysaccharide having the ability to gel on contact with metal ions is gelatinized to a granular form in an aqueous medium containing the metal ions, and the resultant granular gel is then put to photopolymerization and/or thermal polymerization to react the ethylenically unsaturated groups in the granular gel.
