Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a honeycomb structure, allowing suppression of detachment of a sealing material from through holes.

This method for producing the honeycomb structure includes processes of: supplying the slurry-like sealing material 304 into a frame 302 placed on the surface of a base 300; installing a mask 200a having a plurality of mask parts 270b and a plurality of opening parts 270a on an end face wherein the plurality of through holes 70a of a columnar body 70 formed with the through holes 70a are open, and closing a part of the through holes 70a by the mask parts 270b; pressing the end face of the columnar body 70 installed with the mask 200a against the sealing material 304 inside the frame 302; and moving the columnar body 70 pressed against the sealing material 304 nearly parallel to the surface of a base 300 together with the frame 302.
