Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a honeycomb structure, in which the honeycomb structure can be produced much more easily.SOLUTION: The method for producing the honeycomb structure comprises the steps of: joining the corresponding partition walls 70W of adjacent green honeycomb moldings 70, each of which is constituted so that a plurality of inlet-side triangular cells 70Tin and a plurality of outlet-side hexagonal cells 70Hout, the adjacent ones of which are divided from each other by the partition wall 70W, are opened to the upper surface 71a and the lower surface 71b, to each other on the upper surface 71a and the lower surface 71b; and sealing the inlet-side triangular cell 70Tin or the outlet-side hexagonal cell 70Hout. Since a plurality of the partition walls 70W parallel to one another in the directions of 0°, 60° and 120° are made to cross one another at different points on the upper surface 71a and the lower surface 71b, the inlet-side triangular cell 70Tin and the outlet-side hexagonal cell 70Hout are divided from each other. Since the partition wall 70W for dividing the cells is constituted by a straight line, a metal mold to be used when the green honeycomb molding 70 is molded can be produced more easily by wire processing or the like.
