Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a hydrophilized cellulose fiber, in which a 6-position carbon in a glucose unit of a raw material cellulose fiber can be sufficiently oxidized to a carboxyl group, when 4-hydroxy-TEMPO used as a catalyst.

A method for producing a hydrophilized cellulose fiber comprises: (1a) a reaction step of oxidizing a cellulose fiber in a reaction solution including 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl, an oxidizer and a co-catalyst; and (1b) a step of adding further 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl into a reaction solution after reaction of the step (1a) to oxidize the cellulose fiber furthermore.
