To provide a method for efficiently immobilizing cyclodextrin on a hydrophilic material to make cyclodextrin insoluble, and thereby to obtain an insoluble cyclodextrin-supporting polymer shaped product which adequately exerts properties of cyclodextrin such as an inclusion phenomenon in a solution such as sewage so as to be effective for treating contaminants.
A method for producing an insoluble polymer shaped product having properties of cyclodextrin comprises reacting a cyclodextrin derivative having a plurality of carboxyl groups in a molecule with a hydrophilic polymer shaped article having an amino group to crosslink the hydrophilic polymer shaped article with the cyclodextrin derivative. There is provided an insoluble polymer shaped product which is produced by the production method. There is also provided a method for removing contaminants using the shaped product.
