Abstract:

To provide a method for producing isocyanate by reacting a primary amine with phosgene in a gas phase, with a large commercial scale.

There is provided the method wherein a primary amine and phosgene are reacted in a gas phase, in a tubular reactor at a temperature above the boiling point of the amine, the reactant stream is flown in the reaction space via a nozzle arrangement, thereby, one reactant stream is fed to the reaction space via n≥1 nozzles alined parallel to the axis of the reaction space, and a second reactant stream is supplied to the reaction space via a free space surrounding the nozzles. Thereby, after the test time of 200 h, the pressure difference between the pressure in a TDA supply pipe line and the pressure at the gas outlet from the condensing step is 11 mbar and has not changed within a range of the measuring accuracy of the large scale industrial measuring device. The inspection has not indicated the presence of solid sediment.
