Abstract:

To provide a method for producing the corresponding ketones under a low load on the environment by a catalytic reaction according to a method advantageous to industrialization by directly using a carboxylic acid as an acyl source or using a carboxylic acid anhydride readily preparable by reacting the carboxylic acid with an industrially inexpensive acetic anhydride as the acyl source.

This method for producing the ketones is characterized by reacting the carboxylic acid with an alkylating agent in the presence of an activator using a transition metal complex catalyst. Alternatively, the method for producing the ketones is characterized by reacting the carboxylic acid anhydride with the alkylating agent using the transition metal complex catalyst.
