To provide a method for producing a light alloy vehicle wheel which is small in the crystal grain size of metal structure and excellent in mechanical properties although the diameter of the vehicle wheel is made larger.
In the method for producing the light alloy vehicle wheel, first, a flat square billet is prepared by continuous casting or semi-continuous casting by using a mold whose mold outlet port is formed into a substantially rectangular shape (S1), and a flatly rectangular casting material in the casting direction is formed by cutting the flat square billet at a right angle to the casting direction (S2). A forging process has a stage (S4) where the rectangular casting material is forged into a disk shape by pressing down the rectangular casting material from a flat surface side of the rectangular casting material, and a stage (S5) where this disc-shaped forging product is forged into a rough wheel shape having a disc part and a rim part.
