Abstract:
To provide a protein involved in the production of a long-chain fatty acid, a transformant with improved long-chain fatty acid productivity, and a method for producing a lipid with improved productivity of a long-chain fatty acid or a lipid comprising it.SOLUTION: One of proteins is selected from the group consisting of the following (A) to (C), a transformant comprises a gene encoding one of the proteins selected from the group consisting of the following (A) to (C), and a method for producing a long-chain fatty acid or a lipid comprising the same comprises culturing a transformant into which a gene encoding any one of the proteins selected from the group consisting of the following (A) to (C) is introduced: (A) a protein consisting of a specific amino acid sequence; (B) a protein having an amino acid sequence of 60% or more identity with the amino acid sequence of (A) and having Δ5 elongase activity; and (C) a protein having the amino acid sequence of the protein of (A) or (B) and having Δ5 elongase activity .SELECTED DRAWING: None
