To provide a method for producing a liquid crystal composition without lowering the resistivity of the liquid crystal composition and especially without lowering a voltage-holding rate (VHR) in a composition for active matrix.
This method for producing the liquid crystal composition is characterized by dissolving two or more liquid crystal compounds in a hydrocarbon-based solvent, filtering the solution through a filter having a hole diameter of 10 to 0.001 μm, and then distilling away the solvent. The liquid crystal composition produced by the production method of the present invention has high resistivity and a high voltage-holding rate in a liquid crystal composition for active matrix, and is highly useful on the production of a liquid crystal composition for which reliability is required.
